MMT Name: Supply Chain_Consignment.Utilized.Logistics_Transport Equipment
The Transport equipment is the container that the goods are moving in during transport, depending upon the mode this could be known as;
Container (Ocean, Road, Rail)
Tank (Ocean, Road, Rail)
ULD (Air)
In MMT you would usually provide a list of the transport equipment under the Consignment, in here you would detail the seal numbers attached to the equipment and any other related attributes.
If you wish to identify the Consignment Items that are within the transport equipment, then you would also need to fill in under Consignment Item the 'Attached Transport Equipment' to link the items to the equipment.
To identify the transport Equipment you would typically use an identifier, for an ocean container this would be the container number as an example.
Shipping Containers are required to be marked under regualtions and according to ISO standards. The container number is an 11 character reference number made up of the following:
BIC Code (4) + serial number (6) + check digit (1)
The BIC Code is registered to the operator or owner of the container, the serial number is at the discretion of the container owner and the check digit validates the complete number.
